Nigerian singer Fabian Blu has made shocking revelations about his time at Marlian Records, alleging that he was introduced to drugs and faced exploitation while under the label owned by rapper Naira Marley.
In a recent interview on *With Chude*, Fabian Blu, who was signed to Marlian Records from 2020 to 2022, described his experience as suffocating, likening it to being in prison.
He also accused the label of enforcing a “gangster” culture that restricted his artistic freedom.
“I got introduced to drugs in Marlian Music. I never liked the lifestyle there—they were too gangster,” he stated.
During his time at the label, the singer released several tracks, including *Instagram* and *Rolla Costa*, collaborating with fellow signees such as Zinoleesky and the late Mohbad.
However, he claimed that the management controlled his music style and denied him creative independence.
Fabian Blu further alleged that after leaving the label in 2022, he was denied his royalties and faced discrimination due to his religion and ethnicity.
“There was tribalism in the record label. It was chaotic and dysfunctional. I wasn’t given the free will to express my creativity.
All my songs there sounded the way they wanted, not how I wanted,” he said.
The singer added that he struggled with mistreatment within the label and was denied opportunities because he was not a Muslim.
“That place was like a prison to me. I was abused in Marlian Music. When Mohbad died, I realized more of what was happening there,” he added.

Marlian Records has yet to respond to the allegations, but Fabian Blu’s revelations add to the growing controversies surrounding the label, particularly in the wake of Mohbad’s tragic passing.
